13 Predictions For 2017's Biggest Video Games
7. Crash Bandicoot Remastered Collection Gets Mixed Reviews... But Sells Like Crazy
The Prediction: The Crash Bandicoot Remastered Collection receives fairly mixed reviews on the whole (65-75 on Metacritic, perhaps), but still sells like hotcakes regardless.
Why It Will Happen: This collection is being developed by Vicarious Visions, the team behind a slew of handheld games over the years as well as the current Skylanders series.
They're not exactly a high-pedigree developer, and it'd be easy for them to miss the essence of what makes Crash so great. Nobody was really expecting Naughty Dog to return to the franchise, but why not hire a dev with a little more experience at remastering platformers, like Ratchet and Clank's Insomniac Games?
Be wary, be very wary, even though fan desire to play more Crash titles will probably ensure it's a strong seller anyway.
Why It Might Not: At least Vicarious will have a little familiarity with Crash after introducing him in their upcoming Skylanders game, even if that's going to look and feel quite different from the remasters (hopefully, anyway).
On the other hand, perhaps it'll get critically panned and people actually won't fork out for it. Who knows?
