9. Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI is a game so inevitable it really doesn't require fans to wait for confirmation: unless a cataclysmic event annihilates the Earth, a sixteenth entry into the illustrious RPG franchise will release...eventually.

Given the infamously long dev-times for the Final Fantasy games, there's basically zero chance FFXVI isn't already in production, and honestly, it was probably in some stage of development before FFXV even hit stores (as is customary for the series).

Predicted Release Date: This is a notoriously challenging prediction to make where Square Enix games are concerned, though it's reasonable to expect some sort of an announcement within the next year, even if the publisher will want to avoid cannibalising the apparent upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Given Square Enix's penchant for long-lead marketing and delays, it doesn't seem likely we'll see the game before mid-2020, which most probably means it'll end up a next-gen title. The publisher will also want to give those platforms time to sell, so we'll throw a dart at February 2022.
