The Buzz: An open-world third-person exploration game set in a sunless world, Ashen pits the player as a wandering figure looking for somewhere to call home.

Survival is the key in an extremely harsh environment, which reportedly features "high-risk combat", where players are encouraged to bond with NPCs and other players alike in order to better their chances of making it through unscathed.

Though developers Aurora 44 have been rather vague about gameplay specifics on the whole, Ashen will also feature a "passive multiplayer" component, where players may team up with others online, though it isn't required to get through the game.

There will apparently also be an unprecedented feature whereby players can take other players back to their home town and in turn convert them into NPCs.

If the price point reflects what the game is, this could easily be one of the big indie hits of, well, whatever year it eventually comes out.
