13 Video Games That Must Appear At E3 2018
11. Super Smash Bros. For Switch
Though Nintendo has opted-out of the traditional E3 conference in recent years, their Treehouse livestreams have nevertheless been just as surprising and informative as a conventional floor show.
It goes without saying that the Switch is killing it right now, but you know what it desperately needs? A Super Smash Bros. game. Whether it's a port of the Wii U version or a brand new title, it'd be criminal if E3 came and went without the iconic beat 'em up series having its latest installment revealed.
How Likely Is It?: While Nintendo would be leaving money on the table if they didn't get a Smash Bros. game ready for release in 2018, it's important to remember the sparseness of the series' titles to date.
There were seven years between the releases of Melee and Brawl, and another six between Brawl and Smash Wii U, so while fans probably won't have to wait quite so long for the Switch version due to the Wii U's truncated life cycle, it could still leave fans waiting until 2019.
There's a decent chance Nintendo at least flashes up a logo or drops a short teaser trailer, but knowing Nintendo's singular, unpredictable approach, it's just as likely that Smash skips E3 completely. 5/10
