8. The Pokemon Series
Many of you may not understand why Pokemon makes the list, but there are plenty of frightening elements you can enjoy during the Halloween season. For starters, you could build an entire team of Halloween-themed Pokemon. As if there weren't enough ghost and dark types to fill your party with, you can also choose from spiders, bats, owls, and more. Pokemon Red & Blue, and their remakes Fire Red & Leaf Green, feature the eponymous Lavender Tower, a gravesite haunted by the spirit of a dead Marowak. The many channellers residing in the tower will not only attack the player, but say some pretty scary things with one even requesting to drink blood! As if this weren't enough, the creepy music of Lavender Town inspired rumors surrounding children who had heard it being driven to madness and suicide. Every subsequent generation of Pokemon has added at least one other haunted location which serves as breeding ground for a hoard of ghost Pokemon. Like Mario Party before it, it's up to the player to make the game fit the spooky theme. If you're into exploring fan-made creations, you might be interested in looking up Pokemon Lost Silver. The game is a rom hack of the original Pokemon Silver and was inspired by a popular creepy pasta. The game is pretty short, and follows a rather linear path, but is worth a try to get into the Halloween spirit. You can download the game online and it doesn't require an emulator to play so have at it!
