14 Controversial Video Game Moments That Pissed Off The Fanboys

12. Why You No Love Mega Man, Capcom?

Its bad when a company blatantly ruins its image. But what Capcom did to its mascot Mega Man was pure evil and unforgiving. The whole mess started in 2010 when the character's co-creator Keiji Infafune abruptedly resigned from the company. On his way out, Inafune claimed that Japanese development was going down the flusher -- something most gamers were already aware of at that time. It seemed Inafune ruffled many feathers on his way out when Capcom began a merciless campaign to sack his creation. That following year, Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3, two highly anticipated titles were cancelled with the latter hitting closest to home since the fans participated in shaping its content through feedback. Capcom also cancelled Maverick Hunter, an unannounced first-person shooter featuring a brand new Mega Man no one has ever seen before. But Capcom was only getting started with bashing Mega Man. Capcom also prevented the blue bomber from making his triumphant return in the roster for Marvel Vs Capcom 3, the most anticipated sequel in their entire crossover fighting game franchise released in 2011. What's most notable about this move is how Capcom tried to deceive fans into thinking they didn't care enough to warrant his return by lying about the results of their poll used to determine which popular characters to include in the game. Of course, Mega Man was no. 1 on that poll and fans were outraged. Although Capcom tried to make things up with fans by including a version of Mega Man in Street Fighter X Tekken, this version seemed was the one ripped from the original straight down to the bad box art with a little "plastered" manhood thrown in like it was an insult. Its still unclear why Capcom has it out for Mega Man. But what is clear is the company's ungrateful mistreatment of the icon that helped cement its place in the industry.
