14 Upcoming PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch Games - Ranked By Anticipation
7. A Way Out
The next game from barmy outspoken narrative nutbox Josef Fares, A Way Out is the first mandated co-op game. You can play it online with someone else or on the couch, but the game literally never leaves being in split-screen.
This is to tell the story of two prisoners simultaneously; what they were up to before their incarceration, and how they get out. There'll be a number of points in the story where you can choose to branch and go different ways - providing you and a friend/randomer online can agree on what to do - but mainly this is being championed for daring to try something truly different.
Also worth noting is that while one player is watching cutscenes, the other can still walk around and keep playing - leading to interruptions or distractions from one person to the next. It's all very interesting and unique, but will A Way Out's story have any surprises left when the trailers look to have given away all its major story beats?
