14 Worst Video Games Of 2019
5. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
A game so bad you forgot it even happened, 2019's Ghost Recon aimed to take Wild Lands' experimental open-world mission design, add John Bernthal and spice things up with advanced technology, a la The Division 2's upgrade system.
The result was a godawful, off-putting mess of microtransactions, story-breaking multiplayer missions, an unacceptable lack of polish, and Bernthal himself playing a stock hoo-ra mercenary gone rogue.
Breakpoint was received so terribly and sold so badly, Ubisoft are - like Bioware with Anthem - planning a complete overhaul, admitting the game's economy, reward systems and playability need considerable work.
For a company that's managed to rebuild their reputation after a disastrous start to the generation, this was a stark reminder that Ubi's approach to game design can still be abusive and predatory in a heartbeat.
