6. Fallout: New Vegas

If Fallout 3 is like Mad Max on steroids, then Fallout: New Vegas is like Mad Max turned up to eleven, with a little bit of old-school western movie charm.
This weird western tale is set four years after the events of Fallout 3, right in the middle of a war for control of the New Vegas itself, and there's a lot of players involved in the intrigue. It's a complex tale where the player is often in the middle, having to choose what faction to support, and the main storyline is actually one of the strongest in the series' history. But as you venture away from that into the huge desert landscapes that await you, it might all start to become overwhelming.
The game is huge, with a desolate sense of paranoia sinking in as the sun sets and you wait in constant fear of a Deathclaw attack. There are some truly epic moments though, including your first visit to the neon-saturated New Vegas, which is preceded by a long foot journey that sees the iconic location looming in the distance.
It's quite a sight to see the lights get brighter as you realise that you're getting closer, which is just one of the many amazing things Fallout: New Vegas offers.
