15 Best Video Game Acting Performances Of The Decade
10. Steven Ogg - Trevor Phillips (Grand Theft Auto V)
Sometimes a role is played to such perfection, all the world wants you to be is that character. Steven Ogg’s performance as Trevor Phillips, one of the three protagonists in Rockstar’s satirical sandbox, has left Ogg emanating the vulgarity and repugnant nature of the violence-loving mad man across various shows such as The Walking Dead and Westworld – albeit to a far tamer degree.
Trevor was the perfect encapsulation of everything GTA V represented: zany, comical, and ridiculously violent. This was a character that walked the fine line of satiric, just as much as the franchise itself. Ogg’s performance allowed each scene with the dirty lunatic to come alive with gleeful mania, and his staying power all these years later highlights just how much the performance resonated with players.
Whether it be intimidation, glimpses of vulnerability, or the valiant show of utter confidence, Ogg’s performance meant that gamers were as unsure of the character as the character was of himself, and it made roaming the streets of Los Santos all the better.
