11. Mark Hamill - The Joker (Batman: Arkham City)
The first entry in the Arkham trilogy pulled out all the stops with its incarnation of the Joker, which remained largely faithful to the animated series – to the point it brought back Mark Hamill as the voice.
With his croaking, gleeful voice, Hamill can switch between comical and intimidating on a whim and chewed up every bit of scenery that he could. Each time the Prince Clown of Crime was on screen, gamers eyes were fixated on the unpredictable psychopath. He was a villain you wanted to bring to justice as you swung through the dilapidated structures of Arkham Asylum, yet were simultaneously hoping his antics would never come to an end.
However, it was in Arkham City where Hamill impressed the most, keeping that same enjoyable spirit with each encounter. As the Joker met his eventual demise in the second entry's climax, Hamill’s playfulness and cunning deception meant you never knew whether to trust the reality of the situation, even as you carried his lifeless corpse out of the gates of Arkham.
Joke’s on us, I suppose.
