11. Xbox HoloLens
Microsoft had a pretty killer E3 this year, didn't they? After fumbling the reveal of their new console and attempting to gain momentum back ever since, the Xbox's new direction was back in full at this year's biggest gaming conference. However, the company still relied on some old, questionable habits to get them through. Mid-way through the event the publisher announced their new VR project, the Microsoft HoloLens, that would theoretically project games onto any surface in your home. Demoing a version of Minecraft, the tech actually looked pretty amazing, but of course, it was all only a projection of what Microsoft hopes to achieve rather than what's actually possible right now. Because of the unclear capabilities and the publisher's history of over-promising on their peripherals, the general feeling coming out the conference was that many players expected HoloLens to end up as nothing but another forgotten Kinect-esque "innovation". Let's hope it doesn't end up that way, but until people can get their hands on it proper in a regular gaming environment, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up too much.
