12. Randy Pitchford Still Won't Accept Responsibility For Aliens: Colonial Marines

Speaking of lame games that were five hours long, why does the CEO of Gearbox, creators of the absolutely abysmal Aliens: Colonial Marines, keep insisting that the game was a fine success? Years after the controversy surrounding the title first began, players are still feeling the burn of being mislead through countless unrepresentative trailers and developers who lied about just how much they respected and wanted to do justice to this iconic franchise. Even after accusations of the developer pawning off the game to third party studios while funnelling money into the development of Borderlands 2 and a lawsuit between Sega and Gearbox themselves, CEO Randy Pitchford still refuses to take responsibility for his studio actively lying to fans about the title. In a very long interview with IGN, there were many choice quotes that illuminate his choice to stand firm behind one of the worst games of all time:
"What€™s weird is that I actually like the game. Some people invented this myth that if we tried it would have been good, so we must not have tried."
Look, companies like EA may releases some terrible, broken games, but even giant publishers like that eventually apologise for their mistakes. Even if it wasn't immediately, EA and DICE both ended up apologising for the sorry state that Battlefield 4 released in, yet Pitchford to this day clings to the argument that the backlash against Aliens was simply a matter of customer taste, rather than the fact that the game was an obviously half-baked contractual obligation.
