The Prediction: Hazelight's new co-op-only action-adventure game is 2018's best-reviewed indie game, scoring 90+ on Metacritic.

Why It Will Happen: A Way Out was easily one of the most eye-catching and talked-about video games of this year's E3, and with it coming from Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons' director Josef Fares, there's a lot of hope that this will be an ambitious, cinematic expansion of that acclaimed co-op adventure.

The split-screen gimmick looks like a total breath of fresh air, and if the story can be both exciting and emotional, it's got a strong chance of being the big indie hit of next year.

Why It Might Not: Maybe it's just not that good, or the frustration among some players that the game has forced co-op is enough to negatively impact it, or one of the dozens of other promising indie titles manages to outdo it. Take your pick.
