15 Bold Predictions For 2018's Biggest Video Games
8. Shenmue III Gets Delayed Into 2019
The Prediction: Shenmue III's ambitious production will result in it being delayed into 2019.
Why It Will Happen: Yu Suzuki's long-awaited RPG sequel is clearly a colossal undertaking, and the original projection for it to release in 2017 was, well, hilariously optimistic.
With Suzuki still not showing off any pure gameplay footage and the recent trailer not even featuring fully animated faces, it's hard to believe that the game will be whipped into shape over the next year-or-so.
Accepting that production proper didn't even begin until mid-2015, it's easy to believe that the game won't ship until sometime in 2019. The delay won't be announced for a while, but it's probably coming.
Why It Might Not: Maybe Suzuki had so long to organise the game and what he wants out of it that production has been smooth as silk, and the next year will simply be spent on spit-shining every aspect of production. Hard to believe? Certainly, but possible? Absolutely.
