15 Criminally Underrated PS4 & Xbox One Games You Must Play

6. The Evil Within

killer instinct game
Bethesda softworks

The Evil Within had a pretty rough ride upon first release; marred with technical problems including both an awful frame-rate and an ugly amount of screen-tearing, this atmospheric horror game quickly became claustrophobic and confining for all of the wrong reasons.

However, although it was disappointing at the time, since the third person shooter hit store shelves the developer behind the title, Tango Gameworks, have worked tirelessly to patch out the game's problems, even adding in fan requested features like the ability to remove the divisive "cinematic" aspect ratio.

With the additional technical tweaking, many players are now able to discover the same thing that gamers with enough patience already knew 9 months ago: The Evil Within is a bloody good horror game. Created by Shinji Mikami, director behind all the best Resident Evil titles, this tense and demanding third person shooter rewards players with a satisfyingly old-school zombie killing experience.

Its narrative might be a bit wonky and graphics a little dated, but these minuscule drawbacks do nothing to take away from the imaginative and explosive world of The Evil Within.
