1. Booker DeWitt - Bioshock: Infinite

A private investigator and former Pinkerton agent, Booker is a drunk and gambler that accepts a job from the Lutece siblings to "give us the girl" in order to "wipe away the debt". This summary right here is almost enough to make him a villain rather than an antihero.

Booker's nicer side comes to light through his travels with Elizabeth, the girl we was tasked with retrieving. She had been imprisoned in a tower by the tyrannical ruler of the city, Zachary Hale Comstock, but upon rescuing her, the two quickly form a strong bond.

No surprise really, seeing as Elizabeth turns out to be Booker's though to be lost daughter, Anna.

An extremely powerful being capable of morphing the very time and space around her, the plot of Bioshock: Infinite is thrown on itself when Booker learns that Comstock is actually Booker from an alternate timeline.

Not only this, but it is revealed that it was Booker that had doomed Elizabeth to her fate all along. What Lutece had said at the start of the game was actually referring to a much younger Booker handing over his infant daughter to them to take to Comstock in the alternative universe.

Booker allows himself to be drowned in order to stop this timeline from occurring, but had too much interdimensional damage been done, all for the sake of clearing some debt?
