15 Greatest Video Game Theme Songs Of All Time

11. Mortal Kombat

All together now, "MORTAL KOMBAAAAAT!!"

Ahh, that's better.

Anyway, NetherRealm (then, Midway) burst onto the arcade scene with MK back in 1992, but it was the home release in 1994 that came with the above song; a glorious techno-filled showcase of infectious melodies and punchy vocal soundbites.

There's something about MK's primitive design that just screams 'video games' or 'competition'. Its hark back to the arcade announcer calling out each fighter's name as synth-stabs fire off in the background is as iconic as it gets, and to this day, Mortal Kombat's theme retains a special place in every gamer's heart.
