15 Hilarious Voice Acting Fails In Horror Video Games

10. Silent Hill

Silent Hill is one of the most beloved horror titles in the genre. The game oozes with atmosphere while the fictional town still looks eerie even by today's standards. But much like most of the voice work during the PlayStation era, the acting won't be the most convincing thing you'll hear.

While titles like the original Resident Evil had poor voice acting, they had a B-movie charm that made the bad performances acceptable. Silent Hill, on the other hand, is sophisticated with its horror which means that acting is far more crucial to this game.

This burden falls upon Michael Guinn, who plays protagonist Harry Mason. But despite his best efforts, his performance clashes with the game's serious tone.

This is best seen in one of the earlier segments when Harry discovers a horrific sight. He channels his inner Barry Burton when saying, 'What is this? What is going on here?', almost like he's the precursor to Mark Wahlberg in The Happening.

In a way, however, his stilted delivery manages to add to the unnatural tone of Silent Hill. Team Silent would catch on to this as they'd deliberately get less experienced VAs for the sequel, Silent Hill 2.
