15 Hilarious Voice Acting Fails In Horror Video Games

9. The Quarry

Supermassive Games

Supermassive Games found success with its cinematic horror titles like Until Dawn, Man of Medan, House of Ashes, and more. They even managed to grab A-List stars such as Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek, and Will Poulter for their projects.

But in their latest effort, The Quarry, it seems like the developer made a casting blunder with Ryan, a horror podcaster played by Justice Smith. Now the actor has shown good work in Pokemon: Detective Pikachu but for whatever reason, he doesn't have his A-game here.

Ryan is written as weird and aloof on paper but Smith gives such a low-effort performance that doesn't quite work. He often mumbles his lines and his energy just doesn't match with his co-stars. While actors like Brenda Song and Lin Shaye are giving it their all, Justice Smith gives a performance that sounds phoned-in.

What makes this hilariously unbearable is that Ryan is one of the characters scripted to survive a huge chunk of the game. This means you'll be forced to deal with him for most of your playthrough.
