4. Ulysses Was Originally Going To Be Your Companion

New Vegas improved on the successes of Fallout 3 by doing the same, but better. The story in 3 was admittedly pretty weak while its sequel was a more intricate power play that led to one final awesome confrontation with your nemesis, Ulysses, at the end of Lonesome Road. However, the original plan was for this man who taunted you from the get-go to be your companion. Ulysses was intended to be the man who discovered the Hoover Dam and the NCR for the Legion, and would offer their side of events to the character, giving them some sympathy and explaining their backstory. It would've been an interesting route to go down, but then you'd miss out on arguably the greatest part of New Vegas, as Lonesome Road was exceptional and a damn good romp to finish the game on. Still, he'd have been a badass companion and you know it.
