15 Misleading Video Game Trailers That Totally Lied To You
14. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play
Tiger Woods games have always been the neglected step-child of EA Games' annual sport releases. However, pairing the Tiger Woods series and the world-dominating Wii seemed like a match made in heaven for this failing franchise - a sport that revolved around swinging clubs and a console that revolved around swinging controllers seemed like a logical pairing on paper. But when trailers for Tiger Woods 09 released, something was a bit... off. At the time it was a well known failure of the Wii that it wasn't a very powerful machine hell, the thing wasn't even made for HD resolutions. It was a bit jarring then, when the Tiger Woods 09 trailer showed a game that looked surprisingly crisp and detailed. The trailer brought hope that maybe the Wii wasn't as graphically inept as everyone thought. Well, until it was discovered that the game footage in the trailer wasn't from the Wii version at all, but from the graphically superior Xbox 360 version of the game. EA tried to pull a fast-one on its audience and it backfired miserably. Unfortunately because the ad was forcibly pulled due to its misleading content, no current version exists online. To fight the ban EA claimed they made the swap because the Wii footage was not of "broadcast quality", which is probably the nicest way any company has ever sabotaged their own product.
