15 Misleading Video Game Trailers That Totally Lied To You
10. Destiny
Remember Destiny? The little game released in 2014 that was supposed to show the world what the next generation of consoles were capable of? Well it's stil... wait, you forgot about all of that? It's no surprise really, as even after Destiny released to mediocre reviews and disappointment all round from fans, more backlash had to do with the fact that developer Bungie lied to gamers at every turn. Regardless of the now-infamous you can go to any of those mountains in the distance fib, the game was fooling customers to their faces straight through its trailers. Destiny's ads promised a title full of character and intrigue; a non-stop adrenaline rush fuelled by teamwork and player interaction. But when Destiny released, the whole game felt a bit... sterile. Playing Destiny felt less like you were on a quest to save the world but rather that you were in charge of clean-up duty after someone else had already done so. The dynamic interactions and rollercoaster set-pieces of the trailer were replaced with five variations of the same 'go-there-kill-this' side mission inside an utterly lifeless world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZyQK6kUdWQ
