15 Misleading Video Game Trailers That Totally Lied To You
11. Killzone 2
Another case of next-gen deception, Killzone 2 was announced at E3 2005 in spectacular fashion. Boasting incredible graphics that Sony insisted were from actual gameplay (that in reality were an entirely fabricated CG movie), the buzz around this sequel was so astronomical that the company decided they wanted Killzone 2 on the PS3, something easier said than done when production was already well underway on the PS2 version. Guerrilla Games were forced to scrap the work they had completed up until that point and scramble to create something that could live up to the heights of that 2005 trailer. When the game was next seen in 2007 you might have expected things to have improved, however Killzone 2 looked significantly worse than in its initial reveal. While gamers had been burned before on titles using CG renders as actual gameplay footage, Killzone 2's misleading trailer did nothing to help PS3-era Sony from being disrespected by a justifiably annoyed gaming community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-4HNmuEAKg
