15 Most Infuriating Video Game Boss Battles Of The 2000s
8. Jack Krauser - Resident Evil 4
The new-age Resident Evil game engine simply wasn't built for close-quarters encounters, but that didn't stop both Shinji Mikami and Capcom from trying it anyway - hence the terribly constructed battle against one Jack Krauser; a knife-wielding demon-infused lunatic who you're forced to have a game of cat n' mouse-to-the-death with. Thing is, Resi 4's over-shoulder revolution brought about the satisfaction of lining up headshots or targeting specific body-parts, but it would also highlight the limitations of such a system - primarily that without the option to fire from the hip, you were constantly zoomed in. In terms of the boss battle this meant Krauser could sneak up behind you with ease, the cumbersome controls of then having to reorientate yourself just feeling plain ridiculous. It broke the immersion of what should've been an intense 'special ops operative versus ex-military leader' battle, and ultimately ended with you just wishing it could be over sooner - especially when Krauser 'did a Resident Evil' and sprouted a random demonic limb just for kicks.
