9. Far Cry 3
"Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?"
There aren't many video game quotes in recent years that really stick in the memory, but this gem from psychopathic pirate Vaas pulls it off with aplomb. What exactly he's referring to is unclear - Jason's repeated attempts to kill him? Vaas' attempts to kill Jason? Or is it a witty in-joke at Ubisoft about players' willingness to buy Assassin's Creed games over and over again, all the while complaining that they never change? Whatever its exact meaning in this context, it's brilliantly delivered by Vaas. With that said, the adage long predates Far Cry 3, and has been used repeatedly over the years on countless occasions, with many people attributing it - probably incorrectly - to Albert Einstein or Benjamin Franklin. But for gamers, Vaas has all but made that phrase his own. Any repetition of it in the medium would be seen as plagiarism and punishable by bullet to the head.
