15 Most Overrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
10. Life Is Strange
Although Life is Strange became an indie critical darling when it released back in 2015, the adventure game suffered from being nowhere near as polished or fresh as some of its contemporaries.
The game admittedly has quite a lot of personality to it, but it never comes together to make a satisfying rounded experience. The characters themselves feel like archetypes and cliches rather than human beings, and in parts actually come across as unlikable rather than endearing.
Likewise the gameplay is often more frustrating than it needs to be, with the time-travel ability in particular inspiring annoyance rather than imagination.
Flairs of greatness are present in the title for sure, and it should be commended for being one of the few releases to tackle its subject matter, but Life is Strange isn't able to sustain its strengths over multiple episodes.
It's exciting that there's more than just the likes of Telltale Games and Quantic Dream making narrative-driven adventure experiences these days, but Life is Strange has a long way to go before it can be considered to be in the same league as the releases from those developers.
