15 Most Overrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)

11. Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Hellblade Senua Sacrifice
Crystal Dynamics

The 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider was incredible. Completely revamping Lara Croft for a new generation, the game confidently gave the series a brand new action focus, offering a more brutal and unrelenting spin on the franchise's classic platforming.

The problem with the sequel was that while it was mechanically sound, it lacked the personality and the character of the first game. Without the framing of an origin story, Rise didn't know what to do with its main protagonist, and as a result ended up feeling sort of hollow and lifeless.

For the most part the sequel was just more of the same, but without the novelty or charm of the original. The maps were bigger and the enemies were larger, but there wasn't enough substantial that had changed in the years to make Rise of the Tomb Raider feel like a proper follow up.
