15 Upcoming Games To Make An Xbox One Worth Buying
12. Shape Up
Most serious gamers will scoff at the notion that a fitness game would ever show up on a list of "must have" Xbox One exclusives, and typically those gamers would be right to snigger, but after seeing the game shown off at E3, it actually looks like it could make novel, quirky use of the Xbox One's Kinect peripheral, which to date hasn't really seen much in terms of fun, attention-grabbing games. With the use of Kinect, players can see themselves show up within the game as they exercise, while cartoonish visuals help sell its arcadey style. More so than other fitness video games, this really seems to emphasise the idea of good, silly fun while you're working out: at E3, as two players performed a push-up contest, the in-game visuals showed heavy objects such as tanks and giant whales resting on their backs. Whether fitness games are really as effective as going for a half-hour jog is something that's up for debate, but with an online mode which allows players to exercise alongside others, this really could revolutionise a genre that's never really lived up to its potential.
