13. The Order: 1886

In fairness, if there's any game on this list that just might end up disappointing gamers, it's probably The Order: 1886. The title has been subject to so much hype already, yet journalists who have played it have been profoundly mixed in their response, such that while hopes are high for Ready at Dawn's new action adventure IP, many will likely be waiting for those precious review scores before ordering. Still, it's a fascinating idea for a video game: set in an alternate history version of London, an order of knights protect the world from man-animal hybrid monsters, while gameplay unfolds in Gears of War-esque third-person style. From what's been shown off so far, The Order has the potential to be a visually stunning, visceral, inventive new franchise if it can overcome its potential pitfalls. In a rare reversal of the trend for the gaming press to overhype games to death, resulting in consumer disappointment, there's a pretty strong anti-hype campaign against The Order already, with many journalists who've played a demo dismissing it as derivative and clunky. It's not exactly a stellar start for the game, though given the pedigree of the team developing it, it might be best to hold out for some concrete review scores, or maybe a lengthy demo.
