15 Video Games You Wrongly Assume Are Terrible
12. Enter The Matrix
The Game: The video game tie-in for The Matrix Reloaded, telling the movie from the perspectives of supporting characters Ghost and Niobe.
Why You Assume It's Terrible: Because it's a video game based on a movie, and how often does that ever work out? Plus, it got heavily mixed reviews with many expressing disappointment, quite rightly, that you didn't get to play as Neo, and the game felt rushed out to meet Reloaded's release date.
Oh, and nobody ever really talks about it at all anymore, which for a game based on one of the most iconic action movie franchises of all time is a major alarm bell.
Why You're Wrong: It's not perfect, but here's a game that any card-carrying Matrix fans owes it to themselves to blast through. The close-quarters combat is ludicrously fun, and it does a decent job deepening the mythology of the movies, even adding in live-action scenes shot specifically for the game (memorably one in which Niobe makes out with Persephone). Flawed, sure, but snazzy fun all the same.
