2. Arthur Morgan's Final Stand - Red Dead Redemption 2

SILENT HILLS pt
Rockstar

If you were to tell people before the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 that they'd come to care for Arthur Morgan as much as previous protagonist John Marston, they'd say you were having a laugh. Yet, when the former finally met his heroic end (well, if you have a soul and didn't go back for the money) there wasn't a single dry eye in the house.

Falling to the hands of the treacherous Micah Bell, Arthur Morgan's death followed the same pattern as the notorious ending of its predecessor. It delivered a shocking, saddening and ultimately memorable final moment for a protagonist we'd grown to love over hours of exploring the Wild West.

Of course, there's no saying if it will ever become as iconic as Marston's final stand, but Arthur's emotional last ride and subsequent sacrifice to save John is a work of fantastic storytelling that definitely resonates as Red Dead Redemption 2's finest moment. After witnessing his growth throughout the story, it's an end that hammers home the brutal nature of the West and cements Micah Bell as one of the most despicable video game villains in recent memory.

No matter what you think about Red Dead Redemption 2, there's no doubt that Arthur Morgan's final stand is one of this generation's most unforgettable moments.
