16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games

7. Is Metroid Prime: Federation Force Destined To Be Hated By Metroid Fans?

Release Date: TBA 2016 The latest Metroid Prime game was first unveiled at this year's E3 to wild derision from series fans, who were widely expecting Ninendo to announce a core Metroid title for the Wii U, considering that the last good Metroid game came out in 2007 (hence this landing in the "most anticipated" list). Other criticism leveled at gameplay footage decried the focus on shooting over exploration, the apparent lack of series hero Samus Aran (though Next Level Games have since claimed she will appear), and simply that it doesn't at all feel like a Metroid game. The hate has sustained pretty firmly ever since, but will fans have chilled out a little by the time it hits stores? Prediction: Even if the reviews are solid (which seems about as high as they'll go), it'd be very surprising if Federation Force was a financial success, given the overwhelming hate for everything it stands for. Yes, people will relax and behave a little more reasonably down the line, but when the fanbase are hungry for a proper Metroid game, it seems like this just won't do.
