16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games

5. Will Horizon Zero Dawn Be Sony's Next Big Franchise?

Release Date: TBA 2016 Horizon Zero Dawn is Guerrilla Games' first new IP since they made a splash with Killzone, an action RPG which sees the player taking on mechanical dinosaurs in a post-apocalyptic expanse 1000 years in the future. It certainly looks visually stunning and has an undeniably unique style, but that has no bearing on its success or failure, and one has to wonder whether Horizon will end up as the new Assassin's Creed, or fall by the wayside as a cult curio. Prediction: Sadly it looks like this one might be a little too weird for mass appeal on that sort of scale, so even if it is critically and commercially successful, don't expect it to become the next relentlessly annualised franchise. For now we'll stick with Horizon as a "one and done" game, one which makes Guerrilla money but isn't profitable enough to incentivise the development of sequels.
