16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games
4. Can Star Citizen Ever Live Up To The Ridiculous Expectations?
Release Date: TBA 2016 There's no game in active development right now as insanely ambitious as Star Citizen, a space sim that combines the space shooter, FPS and space trader genres into one huge package. The game has amassed a jaw-dropping $97 million in crowd-funding to date, allowing them to rope in Hollywood talents such as Gary Oldman and Mark Hamill, but there's also the understandable worry that there's simply too much hype and expectation for the game to ever deliver the experience gamers have built up in their heads. Prediction: Unlike, say, No Man's Sky, this is a game that's consistently kept fans apprised of new developments and has made its vision exceedingly clear from the get-go. With so much money and talent behind it, it'd be a shock if the game was anything less than an instant phenomenon, and from the extensive material shown off so far, it looks like this could be the game of a generation, one that keeps an entire fanbase hooked for years and perhaps even decades (assuming it's adequately supported, of course).
