16 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Video Games

2. Is The Last Guardian Worth The Ridiculous Wait?

Release Date: 2016 The latest game from the legendary Team Ico (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) was first unveiled at E3 2009 and had been believed to be languishing in development hell for many years prior to its re-introduction to gamers at this past E3 as a PS4 title (it was originally developed for PS3). The developer's legacy speaks for itself, but even so, isn't it possible that The Last Guardian simply won't manage to connect with audiences after such a long wait? Is it not possible that expectations will be too high, and mechanics designed for a PS3 game planned to release in 2011 might seem a little outdated by 2016? Prediction: It's probably safe to expect a game that's nowhere near as brilliant as Colossus, but even so, Team Ico's artistry and disciplined design speaks for itself, so it's fair to assume that they've spent the last few years meticulously refining the game's mechanics for the PS4. Expecting the game to out-do what came before is setting oneself up for major disappointment, but that doesn't mean it won't be great.
