16 Essential Video Games Worth Buying An Xbox One For
7. Sunset Overdrive
At one point, developer Insomniac were right up there next to Naughty Dog, their childhood-defining first two Spyro the Dragon games still being landmark platformers to this day. Sadly, since then they've been on shakier, more B-tier ground (did anyone really play Fuse?), but lately, the PS4 exclusive Ratchet & Clank proved they still 'had it', as did 2014's Sunset Overdrive.
Playing like a blend of Saints Row and Infamous, you're thrown into a world ravaged by monsters that are pretty much energy drinks come to life. You'll have to blast through thousands of them en route to saving the city and its whacky inhabitants, and it's this 'zany' approach that divided consumers and critics right down the middle.
If you just go with it though, you'll be bounding around Sunset City with a raucous soundtrack backing every move. Weapons are pure, Insomniac charm, going from firing vinyl records at foes to deploying freeze grenades and connecting it all together with a never-ending supply of flips and spins.
Sunset Overdrive is a candy-coloured explosion of all things delightful and crazy. It may refuse to take itself seriously even for a second, but if you take its outstretched hand and go along for the ride, it'll be one of the best you ever take.
