4. Entwined
What It's About: Announced at last year's E3 expo and released the very same day, Entwined is an art-rhythm game in which the player uses the PlayStation analog sticks to keep two spiritual entities (one a fish, the other a bird) dancing with one another, transforming into a magical dragon at the end of each stage. Why You Need To Play It: Sometimes everyone needs a break from relentless military shooters and sports games, right? Entwined is just that break: it's gentle, easy, short and beautiful to look at. Much like thatgamecompany's series of mood-based adventure titles (Flow, Flower and Journey), this is a wonderful game to relax to after a hard day at work or even on a lazy Sunday afternoon: it's a testament to the fact that video games can be art, and can be completely unconventional experiences. It may lack any sort of dialogue to speak of, but that doesn't stop it having plenty of heart and evoking a ton of feeling. Easily one of 2014's most underrated titles, and the musical score is exceptional.
