17 Most Violent Video Game Moments Of The Decade (So Far)

10. The Executions - Hatred

Hatred game
Destructive Creations

A grimy game made by grimy people for grimy fans. Remember when 90s/early 00s shock-horror was a thing? When you never really knew what Marilyn Manson's whole deal was, or when GTA's "You can kill the prostitutes!" identity was on the nightly news?

So do Destructive Creations, as they set about making a 'shocking' game that was all about courting controversy. Naturally, like someone going out of their way to be regarded a certain way only for it all to backfire, nobody took Hatred remotely seriously, and instead it devolved into a top-down isometric shooter where you could put guns in peoples' mouths and execute civilians in shopping centres.

As pathetic as it is cloaked in an almost entirely black and grey colour palette, Destructive Creations noted that they created this as a "response" to how "PC" the industry had become - seemingly missing the fact that a game called Grand Theft Auto is the highest-selling franchise of all time.
