11. Losing Lee's Arm - The Walking Dead

Picking one violent moment from any of The Walking Dead's various media incarnations is no small task, but if we're talking causality and pure "They're actually gonna do this?!" reactions, Lee losing his arm to an infected zombie-bite is right up there.

Granted you had the choice to keep the limb and see how long you could survive knowing your days were numbered, but I and many others just reconciled to accepting it had to go, if not only to see what would happen.

Well, some impromptu surgery was what happened, as Lee yells in pain before eventually blacking out from the agony of it all. Of all the moments in TWD season one that really stay with you, for me this was one of the biggest.

It's an insanely cerebral sequence, that all of us can relate to.
