6. Seeing How Ahead Of The Curve Nintendo Were With Star Fox 2
Penned for 1993 and only seeing the light of day on 2017, Star Fox 2 still deserves a TON of retroactive praise, simply because Nintendo truly created something phenomenal.
Keep in mind this was back in '93, and built using SNES hardware that wasn't even meant for 3D rendering. Not only did SF2 continue the original's brilliant dogfighting combat (adding a reticule and more view options), but you can also transform into a walking tank, delving underground for what would've been mind-melting, third-person action sequences.
Structurally Star Fox 2's progression is almost like an RTS, giving you a galaxy map that froze time when you paused, meaning you had to decide which space stations, friendly vehicles or other missions had to be prioritised, thereby losing assets elsewhere. All of this turns the tide against Andross and his legion, though with so many innovative ideas and more ace characters, Star Fox 2 is still worth appreciating today, as it would've been in the 90s.
