12. Dodging Attacks Based Entirely On Radial Audio - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Hellblade senua's sacrifice
Ninja Theory

Recorded with binaural audio so the voices in Senua's head are literally swirling around your own (providing you're playing with headphones), Hellblade's portrayal of one woman coping with psychosis as she descends into Hel itself is pretty phenomenal.

Though the combat can get repetitive and the puzzles supremely so, being Senua is a Pict warrior, she has access to all sorts of skills buried deep within her synapses and thought processes, that can appear at any time. How this works in-tandem with the radial audio, is you'll literally hear one of these voices call out in a specific direction, letting you deflect or dodge an attack without really looking.

For just a second you're transported to every "cool protagonist blocks attack without even looking" scene in all your favourite fight scenes. It shows Senua is capable underneath all her torment, and fundamentally gives the character a fighting chance against the oncoming hordes.
