18 Greatest Video Games Of The PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Generation
11. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Back in 2006, Call of Duty was a solid but uninspiring first-person shooter series set in World War 2. In 2007, it became the biggest game in the whole freaking world. What a difference a year makes. Well, actually, Call of Duty 4 was the difference. Having been stuck in the 1940s, Infinity Ward decided to bring Call of Duty into the modern era and it was an industry-altering decision; the game was a monumental success. The gameplay is fast, frantic and satisfying; the campaign is intense and full of explosive set pieces; and the multiplayer mode... Well, it pretty much changed gaming for good. Adding RPG elements like experience and levels to the mix, Call of Duty 4 became known for its highly addictive multiplayer; levelling up and unlocking new weapons kept us entertained for months; nowadays, it seems like every multiplayer game is introducing similar systems in the hope of capturing people's imaginations like Call of Duty 4 did all those years ago. Call of Duty 4's campaign was a non-stop thrill-ride, full of bombastic moments and engaging firefights, but the multiplayer is where the game really excelled; the online experience was like nothing else at the time.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
