Nathan Drake is known for his witty and sarcastic quips and comebacks, and one of the most recognizable is the saying “kitty got wet.” Drake first drops the slightly dirty expression in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, appropriately after taking out a hapless henchman. It also makes an appearance in Uncharted 3, this time to his friend Cutter when he expresses his hesitation in getting in the water.

Nolan North first heard the expression after his eight year old son beat him in Wii Tennis. North asked his son where he heard it, to which he said he just made it up, going on to explain how it is a reference to how cats don’t like getting wet, and comparing it to how people don’t like losing.

North like it so much that he ad-libbed the line during a recording session, and it proved funny enough to make it into the finished game.
