18 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Uncharted Series
14. Drake's Fortune Was Censored In Japan
The Uncharted games feature a lot of gunplay and violence, and while there is a little blood, they never come close to being overtly bloody or grotesque, which wouldn’t fit the lighthearted adventurous tone the series is known for. And yet despite this fact, the first game was censored in, of all places, Japan.
Those who played the original release of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune on a Japanese PS3 found it completely bloodless. Enemies no longer showed visible damage when getting shot, and the damage indicator, normally a blood red, was changed to black. Given how graphic other Japanese games can be, this was a very bizarre and, frankly, needless edit.
Curiously, the censorship was later removed after the release of the 1.01 patch enabling Trophy support, almost as if someone realised how pointless it was.
