16. Loads Of Characters Were Cut From SSB64

Given the huge array of characters that populate the newer Super Smash Bros. games, it's always hard to go back to the original, of which the cast of 12 seems paltry in comparison. But this small handful of fighters was initially conceived to be much larger.

Many more Nintendo characters were meant to be included, including Bowser, Mewtwo, and King Dedede. Supposedly they were cut due to time constraints or space limitations, which is not surprising given the hardware restrictions at the time.

Future Super Smash Bros. games would finally allow these characters to join in on the fun, many of which have now become principle members of the roster.
