19 Predictions For This Fall's MetaCritic Gaming Scores

17. Soma

MetaCritic Score: 84 What To Expect: Probably one of the most atmospheric games of not just the fall, but the entire year. Frictional Games proved with their two Amnesia games that they're masters of creating an unsettling mood, and Soma basically looks like a more ambitious, disturbing and visually slick version of that. The gameplay footage shown off so far depicts a deeply uncomfortable environment at the bottom of the ocean, with incredible sound design and ingenious lighting combining to make even the hardiest players surely feel ill at ease. Through its sheer stress-inducing nature it's not going to be for all players, but if you've got the nerves of steel necessary to make your way out the other side, it seems likely that Soma will wipe the floor with many of the year's biggest games. Just make sure to invest in a few fresh pairs of underwear before you start playing... Release Date: September 22
