20 Announced Video Games That Are NEVER Coming Out

14. Outlast 3

This one is a bit tough to unpick. While Red Barrels, the people behind the Outlast series, did confirm plans for the next sequel following Outlast 2, they never actually announced a release cycle, or even hint at one.

The Outlast games became very popular in the survival horror genre, with their gripping plots and cat-and-mouse gameplay. Outlast 3 would have been expected to deliver a similar, riveting experience. But so far, we know next to nothing on what Red Barrel have in the works. A big factor behind this is the other Outlast project the studio had been working and released in 2024. This of course refers to the Outlast Trials, a live service prequel to the previous two games. Finishing the Outlast Trials and the subsequent seasonal updates that they have continued to provide, probably the necessary resources were not freed up to go full steam ahead on Outlast 3.

Another complication in late 2024 when Red Barrels was the subject of a serious cyber attack, with the studio later admitting this may have delayed progress on ongoing projects.
