20 Announced Video Games You Won't Play For YEARS
11. Fallout 5
Though Bethesda is currently full steam ahead on developing The Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout fans are obviously losing patience waiting for Fallout 5, given that the fourth game released over a decade ago in November 2015.
The studio's Todd Howard mentioned Fallout 5 in passing as early as 2018, though it wasn't until June 2022 he confirmed that the game would enter production after the completion of The Elder Scrolls VI.
However, Howard walked this back a little in 2023 as he refused to confirm that Fallout 5 would definitely be the company's next game, and has spent the last few years largely speaking vaguely about the RPG sequel's development.
And so, with the likelihood that we're still at least two years away from The Elder Scrolls VI, it doesn't seem probable that we'll get Fallout 5 until at least the early 2030s, if not later.
As such, there's a genuine prospect we go almost 20 years between mainline Fallout games. Just let that sink in for a minute.
