20 Announced Video Games You Won't Play For YEARS

3. The Ciri Witcher Trilogy

We know that The Witcher IV is currently in development, and CD Projekt Red's CFO Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed last year that fans shouldn't expect to see the game before 2027 at the absolute earliest.

2028 is more likely, then, but it's also worth noting that this is merely the first entry in a new trilogy of Witcher games featuring Ciri as their protagonist.

Fascinatingly, Nielubowicz further claims that the entire Ciri trilogy of Witcher games will be released within a six-year period, and if that earliest estimate is true, we might be playing The Witcher VI in 2033.

But games being games, and the ambitious scale of the Witcher titles being what they are, it's an easy bet to assume that these sequels end up taking a good while longer than planned.

And so, we probably don't end up closing out Ciri's trilogy until the mid-2030s or even later, by which time there's a good chance we'll already be playing the PlayStation 7. Wild.
